South Beach re-nourishment
Posted on Nov 10th, 2016
Collier County will be re-nourishing sections of Marco’s south beach beginning November 1st. The sand will be transported by dump trucks using the north swale between the Tampico Building and the public beach access path. Setup for the trucks (Sandbags and vehicular matting) will began this week. Trucks will be delivering sand starting November 1st and should be completed within 7-10 days. However, after sand is dumped, heavy equipment will continue to distribute sand along the beach from the public beach access path, south to the rock jetties for additional 1-2 weeks. Work will be conducted from sunup to sundown Monday through Saturday.
While sand is being delivered, road congestion on Collier Boulevard is expected entering and exiting the property to/from the south (S. Collier to Swallow to Seagrape to Winterberry) is advisable. I have attached a picture of the pathway the trucks will be using while on the Cape Marco property.
Marco’s south beach area lost a considerable amount of sand over the last twelve months. We appreciate your understanding and remind you to be cognizant of your surroundings while on the beach during this process.
